Finally, we traveled again, this time we went to Papua with brother Latif Arakasa, representing Banten Province for the Surf Championship PON 2020. Just so you know, this is the first time in history a surfing competition was held at PON XX. The realization of this surfing competition will be a great start for the future of surfing in Indonesia since we had a lot of beautiful beach with best waves.
With the presence of surfing at the Papua PON XX this year, surfing has become an official sport to be competed anually and hopefully, it will trigger a lot of interests,potential and new spirit in the NUSANTARA for surfing.
Participants came from 13 different provinces, starting from Aceh, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, Bali, NTB, NTT, West Papua and Papua.
Unfortunately this year surfing competition, each participants had to be carried out by their own pocket due to the lack of support from the local government. Not forget to mention helps from donations and homies as well. Eventually we do hope at the next event, the government will give their full support for Indonesian surfing athletes to compete at national sports event.
